Dr. Jonathan Shaver earned both a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1998. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, in 2004 and subsequently completed a one-year residency in ocular disease at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Since joining The Eye Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Dr. Shaver has become a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and has published two articles in peer-reviewed optometric journals. He provides comprehensive primary eye care, diabetic eye examinations, and emergency eye care services. He also founded The Eye Center’s Dry Eye Clinic, where he focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of dry eye disease using the latest medical and procedural therapies.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Shaver is passionate about service and community engagement. He participates in annual international medical mission trips, providing eye examinations and vision care to individuals in underserved countries with limited access to eye health services. He also serves on the board of the Ozark Off-Road Cyclists, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building and maintaining trails and promoting outdoor recreation throughout Northwest Arkansas.
Dr. Shaver enjoys mountain biking, traveling, and spending time with his family. His commitment to patient care, service, and community reflects his belief that better vision can improve lives both locally and around the world.
